It was a misty start as we set off for the meeting place in Tilford for the start of the rally. The organised route was the same as last year but no less enjoyable as we drove in sunshine through pretty Hampshire villages on the 30 mile journey to Alton.
The atmosphere in the town was great, lots of people, the cars of course, a jazz band playing and craft stalls lining the streets. All in all a good end to the season as this was the last event on our 'Summer Calendar'.

After a very nice lunch (thank's everone for your contribution) 19 of us gathered in the lounge for the 2nd Hampshire Quiz afternoon. With eight topics from Disney to Science including vexillology - no we did'nt know what that was either, there was plenty to keep us busy for a good couple of hours. After some good natured 'debate' over the answers the scores were added up and Terry & Harriet were declared the winners.

Nine cars left the Fox and Goose in sunshine to take a leisurely 25 mile drive around the lovely country lanes of North Hampshire. John and Vic had planned the route for us, posed 20 questions to be answered along the way and even made a superb winner’s trophy. Luckily the roads were practically free from traffic so we could crawl along looking for the answers; sadly that didn’t stop us from taking a couple of wrong turns so although we, among others, scored 20/20, our mileage was way above that of Jeremy and Sarah who arrived at the car park in the beautiful village of Chawton in just 25.4 miles. So well done Jeremy & Sarah and many thanks to John and Vic for organising a fun afternoon’s entertainment.

When John (our events man) noticed in the MG Owners Club Magazine that their Winchester group occasionally play skittles at the Cart & Horses in Kingsworthy he decided to contact them and see if they would like to join up for a contest. As a result eight intrepid skittlers from Hampshire joined them for their October meeting and skittle night.
We were just ‘pipped at the post’ in the team event, losing by just four points with a score of 130 to 126 however the prize of a large tin of sweets was generously shared between everyone and quickly devoured. The second round was an individual ‘last man standing’ event which again was won by a Winchester player although Mike did get the highest individual score. The job of returning balls and setting up the skittles was a good aerobics workout and shared between the more energetic members of both teams.
We had such a good time that Harriet is organising a similar event with the Morris Minor Club on the 12th January.
