| Quay for my car - Poole
Quay |
|
Going back to a chance meeting with Dorset and the
decision to exchange newsletters. Om receiving theirs' an event caught our eye.
Apparently every Friday evening throughout the summer, cars are invited to park
up along the quay and this particular week happened to be for open-topped
sports cars.
John & Vic and
Barry & Jenny decided to make a day of it, and after a lovely drive through
the New Forest (thank you Chris for the route) we arrived in Sandbanks in time
for lunch. We moved on to Poole in the afternoon
|
|
where we met up with Ken.
It was a great atmosphere with
numerous cars parked all along the quay; attracting a mass of visitors who had
come to wander among the cars and visit the pavement bars and cafes which were
full of families enjoying the spectacle in the evening sunshine.
An
event to be recommended but it makes for a long day. We arrived home at 12.40am
(yes that's right) having left at around 9.00 in the morning, but worth it we
think |

| Four cars met up in Romsey to complete the journey to
join the Dorset are at their annual fund raising event at Kingston Lacy. After
a lovely ride through the New Forest we arrived in bright sunshine to join up
with Robin and Anne and Ken, plus around 80 other cars |
|
| in the grounds of this National Trust property just outside
Wimbourne Minster. We spent a most enjoyable day looking around and meeting up
once again with some of the skittle opponents from Somerset. Thank You
Dorset. |

| The event
organiser had grouped us with the Dorset area which provved to be a great
opportunity to socialise and swap ideas. By the time we had left for home we
had decided to exchange newsletters and confirmed our intention to meet them at
their Kingston Lacy event in June. (See Below) |

HOT! Hot! Hot! - Thank goodness again for our gazebo - I think it
saved us all from sun stroke, and as an added bonus, we were able to pitch it
right next to the show ring, so we could sit in comfort and be entertained at
the same time. We were also visited by several people who enquired about the
club and our activities, or was it just to get out of the sun? Either way we
got to talk to some interesting people who gave us their details so that they
could receive our Newsletters, and we would like to think that we may see them
at one of our monthly meetings some time soon.
As well as the usual suspects and their cars, Pete and Lou were there
with the Burrell; a very large steam traction engine and in the evening we all
gathered together for our dinner, which had been cooked in the smoke box. The
menu consisted of Lamb Hotpot, Jacket Potatoes & Rosted Vegetables followed
by Fruit Crumble and Custard - our compliments to the chef! |
