We meet
every 4th Thursday at the "Poacher" in South Warnborough, do come along. Oh
& no excuses - we have heard them all before. Common reasons given for not
going to meetings - My car isn't perfect / I don't have a car Don't worry about not
having a concourse car that you spent 27 years doing a nut & bolt
restoration having rescued it from the lower peaks of k2 while back packing
around the world. I have the tattiest frogeye ever, the only original
bits left are the rust - in fact, this lot think I print my own mot's :-) Even
if you are just thinking about the vaguest possibility of buying a
sprite, you had one 30 years ago or you just want to get away from the
kids on a thursday night. |

I'll miss my
favourite tv program
Go buy Sky+ or a Tivo, they
are great, never miss anything again - so simple even my dad can work it. One
tip, hide the remote from the kids otherwise it will soon fill with cartoons
& teenage angst. If you have no kids or better still they have left home,
fine, you have no excuse.- It will be a bunch of old blokes with beards talking about
camshafts & big ends Err, no - we have a 60/40 boy/girls split - youngest is 23 -
oldset is, well, past retirement. Ok, so there are a couple of beards, but only
on the blokes. Conversation
can be about almost anything and many would not know a camshaft if you hit them
over the head with it.
It will be too formal, minutes, commitees, reasons
for absence, etc. Ha, that will be the day - it's all very informal. The most
I've had to dress up is when I was forced to wear a clean pair of
jeans.
My
car isn't a midget or a sprite No excuse - turn up in anything - we often do.
Between us we have: brace of frogs, 4 sprites, lenham sprite, 2 Austin A35's,
lwb landrover, big american thingy, jeepster, 2 xk jags (1 running and the
other in bits, restoration pending 24 years) mk 2 Jag, Willys jeep, mgf (Ellen
said I had to include it otherwise no dinner tonight) 2 steam engines, Morris
Minor woody, 1 sit on steam, train with 1/2 mile of track. |

But I want excitement,
adventure and really wild, wild times?Hmmm, have you considered the WI.
But seriously,we do an assortment of
outings throughout the year - within the last 12 months there has been
:
Treasure Hunt
Le-Mans
Christmas party
Basingstoke Festival of
Transport Bloxham -
Steam Fair & camping Portsmouth - Overlord Woodcote Real Ale Festival Twyford Water Works Open Day + BBQ Summer Party + BBQ
I like the sound of the Bloxam
weekend but I hate camping No problems - bring a caravan, you won't be the only
one.
Everyone will get legless, sing dirty rugby songs & get
thrown out of the pub Are you sure you are on the correct site? We all have to drive
home, although it's true, we will often be the last out the pub. |
